A bank of DC chargers all starting at once is one of the least polite things you can do to a distribution transformer. It is also expensive, because demand charges are set by your worst fifteen minutes of the month.
Dynamic load balancing solves most of this. The site controller knows the sanctioned ceiling and allocates available power across active sessions, favouring vehicles closest to departure. Drivers rarely notice; the peak charge on the bill drops sharply.
Where tariffs vary by time of day, scheduling helps further. Depot and destination charging is genuinely flexible — a fleet vehicle parked from 9pm to 6am does not care whether it charges at midnight or 4am, and the difference in energy cost is real money at scale.
Rooftop solar over the canopy is the last piece. It will not run a 240 kW session on its own, but it shaves daytime draw, shades the bay and pays for itself over the life of the site.
